A 34-year-old registered sex offender from Sittingbourne has been handed a 21-year extended sentence at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to repeatedly raping and falsely imprisoning two 15-year-old girls.

Kieran Chadwick-Tattersall, of Standen Grove, Sittingbourne, appeared for sentence on Monday 19 October 2026 following a joint safeguarding and digital forensics inquiry led by Kent Police.

The prosecution outlined that between June and September 2024, Chadwick-Tattersall initiated private online communications with two 15-year-old female children living in the Maidstone area. Communicating with each girl separately across social media, he deployed grooming tactics involving gifts and payments of cash.

Chadwick-Tattersall used his motor vehicle to transport the children to isolated and secluded rural locations across Kent. Once there, he detained the victims against their will and subjected them to sustained sexual abuse, including multiple acts of rape and coerced sexual activity.

When one of the young victims attempted to pull away and cease contact, Chadwick-Tattersall used coercion and psychological blackmail, threatening to approach her parents and disclose details of their contact to force her continued cooperation.

The abuse was uncovered following Chadwick-Tattersall’s arrest in Nottingham in November 2024 regarding a separate, unrelated incident. During routine investigative procedures, officers carried out forensic triage on his mobile telephone hardware, exposing communication threads, location data, and evidence relating to the serious offences committed against the two girls in Kent.

Kent Police detectives arrested and interviewed Chadwick-Tattersall, securing multiple charges across an extensive indictment:

Rape of a child

False imprisonment

Sexual activity with a child

Engaging in sexual communication with a child

Appearing before Maidstone Crown Court, Chadwick-Tattersall formally entered guilty pleas to the offences.

Passing sentence on 19 October 2026, the Crown Court judge highlighted Chadwick-Tattersall’s predatory background, his deliberate targeting of vulnerable children, and the grave danger he posed to young people. The judge imposed an extended determinate sentence of 21 years, ordering him to serve an immediate custodial term of 17 years’ imprisonment before being eligible for consideration by the Parole Board, followed by an extended licence period of four years in the community.

The court further granted an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposing comprehensive prohibitions on digital communication and unsupervised contact with young people, confirmed his indefinite registration on the Sex Offenders Register under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, and barred him permanently from working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults.

Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
