A 66-year-old man from Staffordshire who carried out multiple rapes and sexual assaults against children has been handed an extended sentence of 22 years at Stafford Crown Court.
Kevin Bostock, of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, appeared for sentence on Thursday 8 October 2026 after changing his pleas to guilty during his Crown Court trial.
The court was told that Bostock’s offending spanned several years and involved multiple child victims. The inquiry initially began when an initial victim came forward during the 2010s to report the abuse. Subsequent disclosures from additional survivors in recent years provided Staffordshire Police detectives with the evidence required to secure formal charges from the Crown Prosecution Service.
Throughout police interviews, Bostock rejected the allegations and maintained his innocence. He initially entered not guilty pleas at preliminary hearings, compelling his victims to face the prospect of giving evidence in court. On the second day of his trial in July 2026, Bostock reversed his position and admitted all indictments.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims of sexual offences and child complainants are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to the public identification of the victims is strictly prohibited under UK law.
Bostock entered guilty pleas to:
Four counts of rape of a child
One count of sexual assault of a child
Passing sentence on 8 October 2026, the Crown Court judge categorised Bostock as a dangerous offender, handing down an extended sentence of 22 years:
19 years’ immediate custodial imprisonment
A three-year extended licence period under probation supervision upon release
Restraining orders preventing any direct or indirect contact with the victims
Indefinite notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register for life under the Sexual Offences Act 2003
