In 2021, Kadian Nelson, a Mitcham Paedophile, a 26-year-old man, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the kidnapping and rape of a schoolgirl in Colliers Wood last year.

Kadian Nelson previously entered a guilty plea to the charges, which included making a threat to kill, before Kingston Crown Court.

A portion of Kadian Nelson’s sentence pertains to an unrelated domestic assault that occurred on 11 October, for which he had been previously convicted.

The abduction and assault occurred at approximately 7 AM on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Law enforcement was summoned when a bystander saw Kadian Nelson seize the 13-year-old girl in North Place.

He stealthily approached her from behind while she was en route to school, subsequently coercing her into an alleyway within a housing complex, where he then assaulted her.

The incident was interrupted by a bystander who approached to ascertain the situation. Kadian Nelson asserted that the victim was his sister and attempted to depart with her; however, the woman persisted in following and recorded Kadian Nelson and the victim on her mobile device.

Kadian Nelson thereafter absconded from the scene, abandoning the victim covered by his jacket, which he had placed over her.

Upon the police’s arrival, Kadian Nelson had vacated the vicinity; however, a video depicting him approaching and seizing the girl was disseminated on social media, inciting vigilante groups, who identified Nelson, to seek him out at his residence and the homes of his family.

The police made a public call for Kadian Nelson to surrender, and a Section 60 Order was enacted as officials urged for tranquillity and for the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

Kadian Nelson was apprehended at approximately 8 PM on the same day after a civilian observed him on Robinson Road SW17, just more than a mile from the location of the initial assault.

Subsequent to the event, Kadian Nelson proceeded to a hotel on Baker Street, where he had reserved accommodations. He subsequently visited other shops in London before returning to the hotel to deposit items and then re-entering the vicinity.

Compelling evidence gathered by the South West investigatory team, comprising forensic analysis, eyewitness accounts, and CCTV footage, compelled Nelson to enter a guilty plea.

The family of the victim said, “We would like to thank the members of the public whose actions of outstanding courage and bravery saved our daughter.”

Detective Inspector Simon Sherlock said:

“What Kadian Nelson did that day was utterly sickening. The young victim was going about her day as usual on her way to school when Nelson approached and subjected her to a terrifying ordeal. His actions were calculated, evil and depraved.

“Thankfully, the incident was spotted by a member of the public who called 999, and Kadian Nelson was then confronted by another woman who was steadfast and resolute as she followed him. She knew something was wrong and trusted her instinct, going out of her way to go to the victim’s aid. I would like to acknowledge the incredible support she gave to the victim and to our investigation.

“Most importantly, I would like to give my profoundest thanks and praise to the victim who has been incredibly courageous and brave throughout the course of our investigation. We will ensure she and her family continue to receive the support they need following this harrowing incident.”

Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave, from the Met Police, added:

“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the member of the public who intervened and provided support to the victim and our officers during their investigation into this appalling attack.

“Rape and other serious sexual offences are devastating crimes that can have a lasting impact on victims, their families and communities. I would urge anyone who has been a victim to please report it. We will do all we can to investigate so that perpetrators are brought to justice and the victims receive the appropriate support.

“We have specially trained officers who work closely with highly skilled, specialist and empathetic partners to ensure that anyone who has experienced rape, or sexual assault, can have the access they need.”
