John Worsey, the Eastwood Paedophile, at 59 years old, was initially reported to law enforcement in 2005 following concerns regarding his conduct towards the girl.

At that moment, she refuted any allegations of misconduct, which meant the police did nothing.

The case was revisited in 2017 when the woman, now an adult, contacted law enforcement after being inspired by a narrative in a television program.

Specialist child abuse detectives probing historical sexual abuse of children in Nottinghamshire have taken on the case.

The police subsequently provided a variety of witness testimonies and medical evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, ultimately securing charges against John Worsey in 2020.

Following the collapse of two prior trials, John Worsey was ultimately convicted in January of this year on 13 charges, including engaging in sexual contact with a minor.

The jury at Nottingham Crown Court was informed that John Worsey had used and coerced the highly vulnerable girl into a prolonged sexual connection.

On Thursday, 28 August, at the same venue for sentencing, John Worsey, previously of Eastwood, was sentenced to 19 years in prison and placed on the sex offenders’ registry for life.

A restraining order was issued, prohibiting any future communication with the victim.
