In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Jason Evans, then 34, of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, was sentenced to 16 years in prison at Gloucester Crown Court. Jason Evans was caught in a sophisticated police sting operation after he travelled to Stonehouse railway station to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl he had groomed online. The “girl” was a fake profile created and managed by undercover officers from the Gloucestershire Constabulary. Evans was arrested at the station and subsequently admitted to charges of grooming and the possession of vile indecent images of children.
The investigation revealed that Jason Evans used the “MyLOL” teen dating app to target vulnerable girls aged between 12 and 16. He used predatory tactics, including inciting children to send naked photos and offering to pay their train fares to meet for sexual purposes. While none of his recent victims met him for sex, officers identified at least 11 other children he had contacted. Evans had a horrific criminal record involving 15 previous sexual offences against children and carried out these disturbing new crimes while already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Upon his arrest, a search of his property in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, uncovered computer devices hidden in a void above a suspended ceiling. Forensic analysis of these devices discovered 2,638 indecent images, including 70 Category A files—the most serious and sickening classification. The haul included two hours of vile Category A videos, with one clip of horrendous child abuse lasting 18 minutes. Judge Ian Lawrie QC designated Evans as a “dangerous offender,” noting his “historical and entrenched fixation with children.”
As a result of his convictions for these depraved and violent offences, Jason Evans was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. His 16-year sentence reflects the seriousness of his repeated targeting of children and his blatant disregard for previous court orders. He will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Gloucestershire Constabulary, remaining under intensive supervision for the duration of his life. Any further predatory behaviour or breach of his strict registration requirements in Stonehouse or elsewhere will result in his immediate recall to prison.
