Jack Preedy, then aged 31, of Ryelands Road, Leominster, Herefordshire, was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment (120 months) at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, after being found guilty of rape and multiple violent offences.
The conviction follows an investigation conducted by detectives from Hereford CID into severe sexual and domestic violence.
The court heard that Preedy subjected the victim to an appalling campaign of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse.
Following trial proceedings, Preedy was convicted of:
- Rape
- Intentional strangulation
- Engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)
For the lead offence of rape, the judge handed Preedy a ten-year custodial sentence.
He received concurrent terms of two years and six months for intentional strangulation, 12 months for controlling or coercive behaviour, and six months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, resulting in an effective total sentence of ten years’ imprisonment.
The court also imposed an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim, ordered him to pay a £228 victim surcharge, and placed him on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Detective Inspector Ben Pearson of Hereford CID commended the victim for her extraordinary courage in coming forward and assisting officers to secure the conviction, stating that the substantial sentence ensures a dangerous predator is removed from the community.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing sexual offences, Preedy is required to serve two-thirds (80 months / 6 years and 8 months) of his 120-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for statutory release on licence. His projected release date falls in May 2033, whereupon he will remain subject to licence conditions and statutory community supervision until the expiration of the full term in September 2036.
