A 35-year-old man from Leighton Buzzard has been sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment at Amersham Law Court after being found guilty by a unanimous jury of ten child sexual abuse offences, including rape and assault by penetration.

Goodness Sokoh, of North Street, Leighton Buzzard, appeared for sentence on Tuesday 20 October 2026 following an extensive safeguarding investigation led by Thames Valley Police.

The prosecution outlined that Sokoh engaged in a serious campaign of sexual offending targeting child victims. Over the course of the abuse, Sokoh subjected the children to multiple rapes, serious penetrative sexual assaults, and non-penetrative contact, alongside coercing the young victims into watching sexual acts and inciting them into sexual activity.

Following disclosures and subsequent police intervention, Sokoh was detained and indicted on multiple counts. He denied all allegations of wrongdoing, forcing the child victims to give evidence during a contested Crown Court trial at Amersham Law Court.

On Tuesday 4 August 2026, following the conclusion of evidence, the jury dismissed Sokoh’s denials and returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all ten counts:

Three counts of rape

Two counts of sexual assault

Two counts of sexual assault by penetration

Two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act

One count of inciting a child into a sexual activity

Passing sentence on 20 October 2026, the Crown Court judge condemned the profound breach of trust and the devastating, long-lasting impact inflicted upon the victims, sentencing Sokoh to an immediate custodial term of 21 years’ imprisonment.

To ensure long-term safeguarding, the court granted indefinite restraining orders prohibiting Sokoh from having any contact with any of the victims, either directly or indirectly. The judge also ordered that Sokoh remain subject to mandatory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register for life under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and barred him permanently from working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults.

Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Sokoh stood convicted of:

Three counts of rape

Two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act

Inciting a child into a sexual activity

Sentencing outcome and statutory measures:

21 years’ immediate custody
