In 2026, the Offender Register reported that Dennis Fletcher, who was previously residing at Magdalen Court in Broadstairs, entered a plea of guilty to the indecent assault of a student at Junior King’s School between 1978 and 1982.
As a result of a trial at Canterbury Crown Court, Fletcher, a resident boarding master, was found guilty of committing an additional indecent assault against a second boy at the same school during the same period.
In 2020, Kent Police’s specialised detectives initiated an inquiry into Fletcher’s offences. In 2022, an additional victim was identified.
Multiple interviews with Fletcher were conducted under caution, and extensive enquiries were conducted, including the collection and analysis of intricate evidence.
Fletcher was subsequently charged after a case file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in January 2025.
He pleaded not guilty to the second offence but admitted one charge. Subsequently, a jury rendered a unanimous verdict of guilty.
Fletcher was sentenced to 11 years and 9 months of imprisonment at the same court on Friday, July 3, 2026.
