A 30-year-old delivery driver from Birmingham who forced his way into a woman’s home under the pretext of delivering a parcel and sexually assaulted her has been found guilty by a jury at Gloucester Crown Court.
Kane Landell, of Chadwick Avenue, Birmingham, was prosecuted following an extensive investigation by Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team into an assault in the Cotswolds.
The court was told that the incident unfolded on 17 June 2024 after the victim parked her vehicle outside an address in Moreton-in-Marsh. Landell approached her, falsely asserting that he was carrying a delivery destined for the property, before asking whether she lived alone. Without receiving an invitation or permission, Landell walked into the house behind her, asked to use the toilet, and placed a parcel onto a table.
Upon inspection, the resident noticed that the package was completely blank, bearing no name or delivery address.
Prosecutors detailed how Landell came out of the bathroom with a visible erection. The victim immediately instructed him to get out of her property. Refusing to leave, Landell moved closer and pressed his erect penis against her hip. As she repeatedly shouted at him to leave, the woman brought out her mobile phone and began recording his actions.
Landell then retreated to his white commercial delivery van and attempted to make a hasty getaway along a narrow lane, colliding with roadside bushes and a boundary wall during his escape. The victim recorded the vehicle’s registration mark and contacted emergency services. Officers subsequently tracked down and arrested Landell.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims of sexual offences are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, or images capable of leading to the public identification of the complainant is strictly prohibited under UK law.
Landell pleaded not guilty to the charge but was convicted by the jury on 23 September 2026 of:
Sexual assault
The presiding Crown Court judge remanded Landell in custody and adjourned proceedings for pre-sentence reports. Landell is due to appear at Gloucester Crown Court for formal sentencing on 12 November 2026.
