A 38-year-old man from Birkenhead has been sentenced to an extended term of 30 years at Liverpool Crown Court after being found guilty of 18 sexual offences, including 13 counts of rape committed against a young girl over a 14-year period.

Daniel Scott Ingram, of Birkenhead, Wirral, appeared for sentence on Monday 12 October 2026 following an extensive inquiry by Merseyside Police into non-recent child sexual abuse.

The court was told that Ingram carried out the offences between 2000 and 2014, subjecting the victim to an entrenched pattern of predatory grooming, psychological manipulation, and repeated sexual assaults.

In a moving Victim Personal Statement delivered to the court, the survivor outlined the profound, long-term devastation inflicted upon her life. She told the court that Ingram had actively exploited her vulnerability and innocence as a child. The victim explained how she spent over a decade attempting to bury the trauma, which left her constantly on guard, emotionally depleted, and suffering from intrusive memories that cast a shadow over ordinary life experiences. Confronting Ingram in her statement, she stated: “You stole my innocence from me,” while asserting that holding him criminally responsible in court represented the first step toward reclaiming her life.

Ingram denied the allegations but was unanimously convicted by a jury across all 18 counts on the indictment following trial proceedings.

Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Ingram was convicted of:

  • 13 counts of rape
  • Five counts of sexual assault

Passing sentence on 12 October 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Ingram an extended sentence of 30 years, ordering him to serve 23 years in immediate custody followed by an extended licence period of seven years.

Alongside the custodial sentence, the court ordered:

  • A lifetime restraining order barring any direct or indirect contact with the survivor
  • Mandatory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period under the Sexual Offences Act 2003
  • A statutory victim surcharge alongside a formal collection order
  • Extended post-custody licence supervision conditions upon release from prison
