In 2026, a 34-year-old convicted sex offender was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment after deliberately deleting his internet browsing history, wiping mobile applications, and operating covert social media accounts using undeclared aliases.

Daniel David Price, residing at Cypress Park, Esh Winning, appeared before the Crown Court to answer multiple charges relating to the persistent flouting of court-mandated safeguarding orders.

The court heard Price had previously been imprisoned in 2018 while residing in Newton Aycliffe. That earlier conviction followed an investigation in which Price downloaded indecent images of children and sent a video depicting the rape of a child directly to an undercover police operative. Alongside his custodial sentence, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and statutory notification requirements, compelling him to submit his electronic devices for police inspection and declare all online identifiers.

Almost eight years on from his original conviction, monitoring officers discovered that Price had systematically circumvented police oversight. Price actively blocked officers from inspecting his digital activity by clearing his internet search history and deleting several communications applications from his devices, namely Zangi, Telegram, Teleguard, and Snapchat, alongside their associated browsing data.

Furthermore, inquiries established that Price failed to notify his designated police monitoring officer of two separate online handles. Price utilised the aliases ‘Paul P’ and ‘Chance-twist-7540’ to access and operate accounts on the Telegram and Reddit platforms.

Price entered formal guilty pleas to an indictment comprising:

Four counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order

Two counts of failing to comply with notification requirements under the Sex Offenders Register

Passing sentence, Judge Jo Kidd addressed the necessity of strict compliance with safeguarding orders designed to manage the risk posed by sexual offenders in the community.

Judge Kidd sentenced Price to an immediate custodial term of two years’ imprisonment. The judge explicitly reminded the defendant that both the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and his Sex Offenders Register notification requirements will remain fully operational when he is released on licence, which will take place no later than the halfway point of his sentence.
