In this report from June 2024, Daniel Allcock (also known as Daniel Smith), aged 27, of Crewe, Cheshire, was sentenced to an extended custodial sentence of 10 years, comprising six years’ imprisonment and four years on extended licence, at Chester Crown Court on Friday, 28 June 2024.
The criminal investigation commenced in April 2024 after Cheshire Constabulary received safeguarding referrals from the victim’s school and social services.
The court heard that Allcock established contact with the victim on social media when she was 14 years old, using an alias and falsely claiming to be 19 years of age.
Despite the victim confirming her actual age, Allcock engaged in sustained grooming between December 2023 and April 2024.
Allcock arranged travel logistics for the teenager, directing her to specific locations where he engaged in repeated sexual activity with her.
Police inquiries revealed that Allcock had previous convictions for sexual offences on his record, leading to his swift arrest on 18 April 2024.
Faced with digital chat transcripts and forensic material gathered by Crewe Protecting Vulnerable People detectives, Allcock entered formal guilty pleas to:
- Causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- Causing a child to watch a sexual act
- Sexual activity with a child
The presiding judge handed Allcock an extended sentence of 10 years, consisting of a six-year custodial term (72 months) and an extended licence period of four years (48 months).
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), granted a restraining order protecting the victim, and ordered that Allcock be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing extended determinate sentences for dangerous sexual offenders, Allcock is not eligible for automatic release at the halfway mark. He must serve two-thirds (48 months / 4 years) of his six-year custodial term in prison before becoming eligible to apply for parole. His earliest date for consideration by the Parole Board is June 2028. If approved for release, he will remain subject to strict licence supervision in the community until the expiration of the full 10-year extended sentence in June 2034.
