Christopher John Austin, who was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in 2021 for serious sexual offences against a schoolchild, has been sighted on multiple occasions visiting an address on the Teglan Park estate in Tycroes, Ammanford.
Austin was convicted following criminal proceedings where he faced multiple charges relating to the sustained sexual exploitation of a young girl. His convictions comprised:
- Six counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16
- One count of sexual communication with a child
- Two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child
Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.
The court heard that Austin, then aged 37, engaged in persistent grooming behaviour, steering conversations with the victim towards pornography and explicit sexual topics. He progressed from verbal manipulation to physical abuse, kissing the child, demanding indecent images, and directing her to engage in mutual sexual acts. The abuse culminated in Austin having sexual intercourse with the young girl.
The extent of the offending led the victim to attend a local pharmacy to obtain emergency hormonal contraception. Following this, the child made a disclosure to a member of staff at her school, subsequently attending a police station accompanied by her mother to formally report Austin’s crimes.
An examination of Austin’s digital hardware by forensic investigators revealed searches for violent and incest-themed material, including search phrases such as “real rape videos”, “real incest videos”, “son gets mom pregnant”, and “real rape sex”. Detectives also identified Category A and Category C indecent media on his devices, including Category A recordings depicting sexual intercourse with a child.
In 2021, the court imposed an immediate custodial sentence of five years, alongside statutory sex offender notification requirements and preventative court orders.
Austin has completed the custodial portion of his sentence and has recently been observed visiting his partner at a property situated on the Teglan Park residential estate in Tycroes, Ammanford.
