In 2026, Merseyside Police detectives released closed-circuit television (CCTV) images and appealed for public assistance following a sexual assault committed inside a prominent Liverpool city centre venue.

The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday 21 June 2026 at approximately 9:50 PM inside SOHO, situated in Concert Square. According to investigating officers, a man was subjected to a sexual assault by an unidentified male patron within the bar, leaving the victim visibly shaken and distressed.

Following the report, officers initiated extensive investigations, auditing internal surveillance footage from across Concert Square and speaking with witnesses. Detectives have now made public CCTV stills showing an individual they are seeking to trace, believing he possesses crucial details regarding the circumstances of the offence.

Detective Inspector Joe Rea of Merseyside Police stated:
“We take reports of any sexual assaults in our city centre very seriously. No one should be subjected to such inappropriate behaviour and the victim was very distressed after the incident. I am appealing to anyone who remembers being at the bar on Sunday 21 June and recognises this man or knows who he is to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries. While some months have passed since the incident, any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”

Detectives are encouraging weekend visitors, bar staff, security personnel, and members of the public who were inside SOHO or Concert Square on the night of 21 June to review the published imagery.

Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the individual is urged to contact Merseyside Police via the force’s social media desk on Facebook or X (@MerPolCC), through their online crime reporting portal, or by telephoning 101, quoting reference number 26000496027.

Information can also be provided with complete confidentiality through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
