In 2021, Christopher Peter Morris, a then 37-year-old man from Flint, was jailed following a police undercover operation targeting online child exploitation networks.
Christopher Peter Morris, of Chester Street, Flint, was sentenced at Mold Crown Court to eight years, comprising a four-year custodial term and an extended licence period of four years. His conviction followed a trial where a jury found him guilty of attempting to facilitate a meeting with a child for sexual gratification. The court heard how Morris used an online messaging platform and encrypted telephone calls to communicate with an undercover officer posing as a nanny caring for a 10-year-old girl.
During these digital exchanges, Morris actively arranged a meeting at Chester Zoo in September 2019 with the explicit intention of committing serious offences against the fictitious child. Although the physical meeting ultimately did not occur, evidence presented in court demonstrated his deliberate planning and clear criminal intent. Judge Christopher Vosper QC noted that Morris presented a significant ongoing risk to children and had previously accessed online chatrooms to view illicit digital media.
In addition to his extended prison sentence, Morris was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to ensure strict ongoing monitoring and public protection following his eventual release from custody.
