A 27-year-old man who offered a woman a lift home after a night out before subjecting her to rape and filming himself taking drugs off her body has been jailed for seven years at Swansea Crown Court.

Caeran Evans, of Penlan, Swansea, appeared for sentence following his conviction for rape and sexual assault.

The court was told that the incident occurred in October 2024. After offering the female complainant transport home following a social evening, Evans carried out a sustained sexual violation. The victim had sexually degrading phrases written onto her skin. In addition, video footage recorded during the encounter showed Evans snorting illicit substances placed directly onto the woman’s body while she appeared unconscious or asleep. The recording was subsequently shared into digital messaging groups.

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all victims of sexual offences are entitled to automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity from the moment an allegation is made. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, or images that could lead to the public identification of the complainant is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Evans entered a guilty plea to sexual assault during a hearing in December 2025, but denied the charge of rape. Following a trial at Swansea Crown Court, the jury found him guilty of rape on 16 September 2026.

The judge handed down a total custodial sentence of seven years’ imprisonment. Under current UK statutory sentencing rules governing determinate sentences for serious sexual offences, Evans must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence in closed prison conditions before the Parole Board will consider him for conditional release on licence under probation supervision.

Alongside the custodial sentence, the court ordered:

A 15-year restraining order barring any direct or indirect contact with the victim

Mandatory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003

Associated protective safeguarding measures monitoring his conduct upon release
