In 2021, Allan Spratt, a then-46-year-old dangerous convicted paedophile from Deal, was jailed for two years and five months after police uncovered a library of horrific child abuse images on his mobile phone.
Allan Spratt, of Westerhout Close, Deal, appeared at Canterbury Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, breaching notification requirements, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The court heard that Spratt was previously jailed in 2010 for six years after posing as a 13-year-old boy online to groom and sexually abuse a 14-year-old girl. In December 2020, Kent Police raided his address following a tip-off. They seized his Samsung phone, uncovering Category A, B, and C images and videos, as well as systematic searches using explicit keywords. During his police interview, Spratt admitted he was “glad” to be caught, stating he was on a “slippery slope” to committing a contact offence against another child.
Judge Mark Weekes sentenced Spratt to two years and five months in prison, highlighting the “misery” caused to the children depicted in the images.
Following his latest convictions for child sexual offences and order breaches, Spratt remains on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, lifetime register monitoring, and strict risk management protocols by law enforcement upon any eventual release from prison.
