In 2026, Alexandra Walker and her boyfriend, Harrison Simpson, were found guilty of the murder of Walker’s two-year-old daughter, Isabelle Rose Welsh, following a five-week trial at Teesside Crown Court.
Alexandra Walker, 26, and Harrison Simpson, 22, were arrested after emergency services were called to an address on Hartington Close in Thornaby on 13 September 2025, following concerns for the welfare of the child. The court heard that two-year-old Isabelle sustained fatal injuries on the morning of 13 September while left alone with Simpson, while Walker was upstairs following an alcohol and drug binge. Isabelle was transported to the hospital but died shortly afterwards as a result of her injuries.
Following a five-week trial at Teesside Crown Court, a jury returned guilty verdicts on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. Simpson was convicted of murder, sexual assault by penetration, and child cruelty. Walker was convicted of murder and child cruelty. Both defendants denied the charges throughout the legal proceedings.
Following their convictions for murder and child cruelty, both defendants were remanded in custody ahead of a formal sentencing scheduled for Thursday, 30 July 2026.
Upon sentencing, both individuals will remain subject to statutory public protection monitoring, life licence supervision, and mandatory notification requirements.
