Abdul Farid Nabizada, aged 36, of Edinburgh, has been sentenced to seven years in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh following a grave personal attack on a woman in the capital.
The incident occurred on Friday 12 November 2021 in the Portobello area of Edinburgh. Police Scotland launched an investigation after the victim reported the attack, with specialized officers gathering forensic and circumstantial evidence to identify Nabizada.
Detectives conducted extensive enquiries to build a comprehensive prosecution file for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
Nabizada denied the charge, but following a High Court trial, he was found guilty on Tuesday 7 July 2026.
On Tuesday 11 August 2026, the presiding judge sentenced Nabizada to seven years’ imprisonment. He was also added to the sex offenders register indefinitely and made subject to a non-harassment order, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
