Aaron Gale, then aged 23, with links to Torquay, Plymouth, and Cornwall, was placed under mandatory hostel residency and curfew conditions at Exeter Crown Court following convictions for child sexual offences and notification breaches.
The legal proceedings followed Gale’s failure to comply with his statutory obligations under the Sex Offenders Register after becoming homeless in Torquay.
The court heard that under sex offender registration requirements, Gale was obligated to register his whereabouts and provide regular updates if of no fixed address.
After failing to maintain these reporting requirements, Gale was arrested and remanded in custody for 36 days.
Gale’s criminal history includes convictions for sexual offences against children:
Engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old child in Torbay, where forensic testing matched his DNA to the victim’s underwear following an assault on a bunk bed
Additional convictions for sexual activity with a child resulting in a suspended prison term and mandatory rehabilitation
Pre-sentence reports presented to the court classified Gale as presenting a high risk of serious harm to teenage girls, while also highlighting ongoing concerns regarding violence, including bail for threatening to assault an adult woman.
His defence counsel submitted that his homelessness contributed to a chaotic lifestyle and argued that structured accommodation would assist with compliance.
The presiding judge imposed a community order requiring Gale to reside at the Lawson House hostel in Paradise Place, Plymouth, subject to an enforceable three-month curfew to allow multi-agency public protection services to monitor his movements.
