In 2026, Merseyside Police detectives launched a public appeal and circulated a closed-circuit television (CCTV) image following a reported incident of indecent exposure inside Birkenhead Market.
The incident occurred late on Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:55 PM on 11 July 2026. According to investigating officers, a man committed an act of indecent exposure inside the public toilet facilities situated within the market complex.
Following initial investigations and an examination of surveillance footage covering the surrounding shopping concourse, detectives released a security image of an individual they believe may hold vital information that could assist their continuing inquiries.
Officers are appealing to market stallholders, weekend shoppers, and visitors who recognize the individual depicted in the CCTV still, or who observed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the market toilets around the time of the offence, to make contact.
Information can be submitted directly to Merseyside Police via their social media contact desk on Facebook or X (@MerPolCC), through their online reporting portal, or by telephoning the non-emergency 101 service, quoting crime reference number 26000566332.
Reports can also be made with complete confidentiality through the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling freephone 0800 555 111 or via their secure website.
