In 2026, a 27-year-old man was handed an immediate custodial sentence of eight-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court after being convicted of carrying out a rape inside a residential property in Liverpool.

Mohammed Benradi, residing at Hatherley Street, London, appeared in the dock for sentencing on Wednesday 21 October 2026. The hearing concluded an extensive criminal investigation overseen by Merseyside Police’s dedicated sexual offences investigation unit, the Unity Team.

The court heard that on Saturday 23 November 2024, a woman reported that she had been subjected to a serious sexual assault and rape at a premises situated within the Toxteth area of Liverpool.

Specialist detectives launched an immediate inquiry into the circumstances, providing comprehensive safeguarding care to the victim while pursuing multiple investigative paths, including the public dissemination of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to locate the suspect. The inquiries culminated in Benradi being traced, arrested, formally charged, and subsequently convicted of rape.

Addressing the outcome of the proceedings, Detective Constable Andrew Littler of Merseyside Police’s Unity Team remarked:
“Benradi is behind bars where he belongs and I hope his sentence will give his victim a degree of closure and allow her to move on with her life. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a sexual offence, please be assured that we have specially trained officers to guide you through the process.”

The presiding judge ordered Benradi to serve an immediate term of eight-and-a-half years’ imprisonment.

In addition to the custodial term, Benradi was made subject to indefinite notification requirements on the statutory Sex Offenders Register alongside long-term protective post-release conditions.
