Two men from Winsford have each been sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment at Chester Crown Court after being found guilty of raping a woman in Cheshire.

Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28, and Dilgash Adil, 32, both of Ledward Street, Winsford, appeared for sentence on Friday 24 July 2026 following an extensive inquiry conducted by Cheshire Police.

The prosecution outlined that the defendants, who are both Syrian nationals, carried out the sexual assault against the female victim in Winsford.

Following a detailed investigation by Cheshire Police detectives, both men were arrested, interviewed under caution, and formally charged with rape.

Abdulsalm and Adil entered not guilty pleas to the indictment, forcing the survivor to endure a contested trial at Chester Crown Court. Following the presentation of evidential submissions and testimony, the jury rejected the defendants’ denials and returned guilty verdicts.

Abdulsalm was convicted of two counts of rape, while Adil was convicted of one count of rape.

Passing sentence on 24 July 2026, the Crown Court judge highlighted the gravity of the offences and the enduring impact inflicted upon the victim, handing each defendant an immediate custodial sentence of 11 years’ imprisonment, resulting in a total combined sentence of 22 years behind bars.

The court also ordered that both Abdulsalm and Adil be subject to indefinite, lifelong notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, alongside strict statutory licence supervision conditions to be enforced upon any future release from custody.

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all victims and complainants connected to sexual offence proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
