A 19-year-old man from Manchester has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment at Manchester Crown Court after being convicted of raping, assaulting, and threatening to kill a 16-year-old girl.

Marley Murray, of Cotefield Road, Manchester, appeared for sentence following an investigation led by Greater Manchester Police into serious domestic abuse and sexual violence.

The prosecution outlined that Murray carried out the campaign of offences over a timeframe spanning several months throughout 2025. During this period, Murray repeatedly targeted the 16-year-old victim, subjecting the child to physical violence, terrifying threats to take her life, and rape.

Specialist domestic abuse officers worked alongside the survivor to secure critical evidence. Following the comprehensive police inquiry, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised five charges on the indictment: rape, threats to kill, and three counts of common assault.

The court commended the immense fortitude and resilience demonstrated by the young victim in coming forward to report the domestic abuse and supporting the proceedings through to a successful conviction.

Passing sentence, the Crown Court judge handed Murray an immediate custodial term of six years’ imprisonment. To safeguard the victim upon Murray’s eventual release, the court imposed a 10-year restraining order strictly prohibiting him from attempting to contact or approach her. Furthermore, the judge ordered that Murray comply with mandatory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register.

Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
