A 26-year-old man who threatened to kill a woman and inflicted catastrophic internal injuries described by a doctor as the worst they had ever seen has received a 23-year extended sentence at Mold Crown Court.
Jordan Jones, 26, of Chirk, appeared for sentence on Monday 5 October 2026. He had admitted nine criminal charges following a police investigation into a violent and prolonged attack committed earlier this year.
The court heard that emergency services were summoned in February following reports concerning a woman in acute distress in the Chirk area. Inquiries revealed that Jones had threatened to kill the woman earlier that evening. When the victim attempted to flee, Jones attacked her, intentionally strangled her, and dragged her to the floor by force. Jones explicitly told her, “I will show you what a rapist can do,” before carrying out repeated rapes and sexual assaults.
The violence inflicted upon the survivor resulted in devastating internal injuries. The medical practitioner responsible for examining and treating the victim stated that the physical trauma was the most severe they had ever witnessed in their medical career. Police officers dispatched to the area discovered Jones sitting inside a motor vehicle nearby and placed him under arrest. He remained remanded in prison custody leading up to his sentencing hearing, demonstrating no remorse for his actions.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all victims of sexual offences are entitled to automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity from the moment an allegation is made. It is a criminal offence to publish, broadcast, or disclose any details, including names, addresses, or photographs, that could lead to the public identification of the complainant across print, broadcast, digital, or social media networks.
Jones entered formal guilty pleas to all nine counts:
- Four counts of rape
- Two counts of sexual assault
- One count of threats to kill
- One count of intentional strangulation
- One count of assault
The judge ruled that Jones satisfied the legal definition of a dangerous offender posing a serious threat of harm to the public. The court passed an extended determinate sentence of 23 years, consisting of 18 years in custody and a further five years to be served on extended licence.
Under current statutory sentencing rules for serious and dangerous sexual offenders, Jones will be required to serve at least two-thirds of the 18-year custodial term behind bars before becoming eligible to apply to the Parole Board for conditional release on licence under probation supervision. If granted parole, he will remain subject to strict monitoring conditions and immediate recall to custody for the remainder of the 23-year period.
Alongside the extended custodial term, the court ordered:
- Indefinite notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003
- A lifetime restraining order strictly prohibiting any direct or indirect contact with the survivor
