West Midlands Police have released an appeal seeking to identify a man in connection with a sexual assault committed against a woman inside a retail shop on Dudley High Street.
The incident occurred at approximately 8.30am on Friday 7 August. Police were alerted after a woman was subjected to a sexual assault within a commercial premises operating along the main High Street in Dudley town centre.
Investigating officers have been carrying out inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the attack, focusing heavily on reviewing security and surveillance cameras operating in the immediate area. Detectives have now issued an appeal alongside CCTV imagery to trace a man they are seeking to interview as a matter of urgency.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all victims of sexual offences are entitled to automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity from the moment an allegation is made. It is a criminal offence to publish, broadcast, or disclose any details, including names, addresses, or photographs, that could lead to the public identification of the complainant across any newspaper, broadcast, website, or social media platform.
West Midlands Police are appealing directly to the local community and anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time of the offence to assist the inquiry.
