Balazs Boros, aged 23, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment at Carlisle Crown Court after chasing a 15-year-old schoolgirl through an underpass and sexually assaulting her in direct violation of a court order.

The incident occurred while the victim was walking home through the Hardwicke Circus area of Carlisle. The court heard that Boros approached the 15-year-old child and told her she “looked cute”. When the victim ignored his approach and accelerated her pace, Boros followed her. Terrified by his actions, the girl began running towards an underpass, prompting Boros to run after her.

During the foot chase, the victim’s sandal came off, forcing her to halt. Boros caught up to the child and subjected her to a sexual assault over her clothing. The victim screamed for assistance, broke away from his grasp, and ran home. The court heard she arrived home crying hysterically and had feared for her life during the attack.

Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.

Officers from Cumbria Constabulary located and arrested Boros at designated accommodation where he had been residing following his release from a previous custodial sentence. When cautioned and detained by officers, Boros confessed immediately, stating: “I am guilty; I know I did it.”

The court heard that Boros was subject to the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) handed down at Liverpool Crown Court following earlier sexual offending. The order explicitly prohibited him from approaching or initiating contact with female children in such circumstances.

Appearing before Carlisle Crown Court on 2 October, Boros entered guilty pleas to sexual assault and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Sentencing him, Judge Philip Holden condemned the offence as a terrifying stranger attack on a vulnerable child and branded Boros “a sexual menace” who poses an ongoing danger to women and children. The judge handed Boros a determinate custodial sentence of nine months’ imprisonment, alongside continued supervision under the Sex Offenders Register and court-mandated preventative orders.
