Evans Nyarko, aged 45, of Fishermead, Milton Keynes, has been sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment at Aylesbury Crown Court after being convicted of raping a woman in her own home after offering to assist her back from a night out.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 12 August 2024. The court heard that the victim, a woman in her fifties, had been spending the evening socialising with friends and acquaintances in the Conniburrow area of Milton Keynes. During the course of the night, the woman became physically unwell and began experiencing significant difficulty walking and maintaining her balance.

Capitalising on her vulnerable state, Nyarko offered to assist her by accompanying her back to her home address in a taxi. The pair arrived at the residence shortly after midnight. After assisting the woman into her hallway, Nyarko followed her into a ground-floor toilet where he subjected her to a violent rape.

Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.

Following a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police, Nyarko was arrested and formally charged with rape. He maintained his innocence throughout proceedings, forcing the case to a contested trial at Aylesbury Crown Court. On 26 May 2026, following a six-day trial, the jury unanimously rejected his defence and returned a guilty verdict on a single count of rape.

Nyarko returned to Aylesbury Crown Court for sentencing on 1 October. The presiding judge sentenced him to an immediate determinate custodial term of eight years’ imprisonment.

Under statutory sentencing guidelines governing serious sexual offences attracting sentences of this magnitude, Nyarko must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence in closed prison conditions before becoming eligible to apply for conditional release on licence through the Parole Board. In addition, the court made Nyarko subject to mandatory lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register and granted protective restraining orders.
