Christopher Luck, aged 62, formerly of Albion Street, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, has been sentenced to three years and two months’ imprisonment at St Albans Crown Court after admitting to amassing thousands of indecent images of children and distributing them online.
The investigation was initiated in 2024 when Hertfordshire Constabulary officers executed a search warrant at Luck’s former property in St Albans after digital intelligence traced child abuse images uploaded to the internet back to his connection. Following his arrest and remand into custody in June, digital forensic units conducted an in-depth examination of the hardware seized from his address.
The analysis revealed a collection comprising 5,224 indecent images of children. Among these files, detectives identified 1,416 images classified under Category A, representing the most severe level of physical and sexual abuse committed against children. A further 1,315 images were designated as Category B, and 2,493 were classified as Category C. Investigators also found 144 extreme pornography images, 21 prohibited images of children, and a quantity of cocaine.
Forensic examination of Luck’s messaging applications exposed communications with like-minded networks online, where he engaged in detailed conversations concerning the sexual exploitation of children and openly boasted about his absence of morals.
Appearing before the court, Luck entered guilty pleas to six counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of distributing indecent images of children, one count of possession of extreme pornography, one count of possession of prohibited images of children, and one count of possession of cocaine.
The presiding judge imposed a determinate custodial sentence of three years and two months. Under standard determinate sentencing provisions, Luck will serve half of his sentence in custody before being released on licence under community supervision by the Probation Service.
The court also made Luck subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his access to the internet and digital devices, alongside lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register.
