Darius Andrulionis, aged 46, of Balding Close, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, has been handed an extended determinate sentence of 13 years at Cambridge Crown Court after being convicted of stalking and raping a vulnerable woman.
The court heard the incident occurred after the victim spent an evening socialising in Wisbech.
Earlier that night, Andrulionis approached the woman and attempted to dance with her, but she firmly rebuffed his advances.
Recognising that the victim had become heavily intoxicated and had fallen over on several occasions, Andrulionis chose to follow her and her companions through the streets in the early hours of the morning until they arrived at a local garage premises.
CCTV cameras recorded the moment Andrulionis targeted the woman, grabbing her and dragging her away while she desperately attempted to kick out and free herself.
Andrulionis forcibly moved the struggling victim into a dark alleyway and concealed her within nearby bushes.
When the woman began screaming for assistance, Andrulionis placed his hands over her mouth and nose to prevent her from raising the alarm, before subjecting her to a prolonged rape.
The victim eventually managed to break free from his grip and ran back to the garage to seek help.
Medical examiners documented physical injuries across her arms, legs, back, and finger.
In a victim personal statement read to the court, the survivor described how the trauma had shattered her confidence, leaving her unable to trust others, terrified whenever men walk behind her, and completely withdrawn from social life.
Cambridgeshire Police arrested Andrulionis later that day.
Although he initially denied the allegations despite being presented with CCTV recordings of the interaction, Andrulionis subsequently entered a guilty plea to rape of a female aged 16 or over.
Sentencing him, Judge Andrew Hirst condemned Andrulionis’s complete lack of remorse and classified him as a dangerous offender who posed a significant risk of serious harm to the public.
The judge characterised the incident as an abduction, stating: “You simply dragged her away in the dark to satisfy your lust.”
Judge Hirst handed Andrulionis an extended sentence of 13 years, comprising an immediate custodial term of seven years (84 months) coupled with an extended licence period of six years.
The court also made him subject to the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period (for life), granted an indefinite restraining order preventing any contact with the victim, and ordered him to pay a £228 victim surcharge.
Release Calculation: Because Andrulionis was categorised as a dangerous offender and received an extended determinate sentence for a serious sexual offence, automatic early release does not apply. He must serve a minimum of two-thirds of the seven-year custodial term (four years and eight months / 56 months) in prison custody before becoming eligible to apply for parole. His release remains entirely at the discretion of the Parole Board, which must be satisfied that he is safe to be managed in the community. If released, he will serve the remainder of the custodial sentence plus the six-year extension on licence under strict probation monitoring.
