Victoria Lewis, aged 40, of Neath, Neath Port Talbot, has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment after being convicted of facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child.
The prosecution arose from offending that occurred in mid-2023, during which Lewis actively facilitated the sexual exploitation and abuse of a child by co-defendant Shaun Lewis, aged 40, of Sandfields.
The court heard that Victoria Lewis arranged for an indecent photograph to be taken of the child.
During the same timeframe, Lewis coordinated and arranged the travel of the victim specifically with a view to her being sexually exploited.
Furthermore, Lewis intentionally arranged acts designed to involve the commission of child sexual offences under sections 9 to 13 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, handling and facilitating numerous sexual requests and demands made by Shaun Lewis.
Victoria Lewis entered not guilty pleas to:
- Arranging the sexual exploitation of a child aged 13 to 17
- Arranging the commission of an offence of sexual activity with a child
- Arranging the travel of another person with a view to exploitation
Following a Crown Court trial in April, a jury returned guilty verdicts on all three counts on the indictment.
Commenting on the conviction, Detective Constable Amanda Jenkins of South Wales Police said: “This has been a particularly depraved case which has involved Victoria Lewis arranging for a child to meet with a man that she knew would sexually exploit her. What Victoria Lewis has done is sickening, and to think about what the child has gone through because of Victoria Lewis is horrifying. We cannot praise the victim enough for the bravery she has shown to tell police what happened to her and secure justice against a despicable woman – and that is before even mentioning Shaun Lewis’s part in the offending.”
The court sentenced Victoria Lewis to an immediate custodial term of four years (48 months).
She was also made subject to the statutory notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Co-defendant Shaun Lewis pleaded guilty to two counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, and one count of arranging or facilitating travel with a view to exploitation.
He was sentenced to an extended term of 12 years, comprising seven years in custody and a five-year extended licence, alongside lifetime sex offender notification requirements.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing standard determinate custodial sentences under seven years, Victoria Lewis is entitled to automatic statutory release on licence at the halfway mark. She will serve one-half (24 months / two years) of her 48-month sentence in prison custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder under the supervision of the Probation Service in the community.
