Nigel Moor, then aged 75, of Droitwich, Worcestershire, has been handed an extended sentence of 19 years at Worcester Crown Court after pleading guilty to 19 non-recent sexual offences committed against children and females.
The sentencing marks the conclusion of an investigation conducted by West Mercia Police’s Protecting People Unit (PPU) into long-term sexual abuse across multiple decades.
The historical offending came to light in December 2024 when a survivor contacted police to report that Moor had subjected them to sexual abuse over an 11-year period.
In June 2025, while inquiries were progressing, a second survivor stepped forward to disclose that Moor had subjected them to similar sexual abuse over an eight-year timeframe.
Detectives from the Protecting People Unit arrested Moor and gathered extensive evidence, leading to his appearance at Worcester Crown Court on 6 July, where he entered guilty pleas to:
- Seven counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration
- Five counts of sexual assault on a female
- Four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching
- Three counts of assault on a female 13 and over by penetration
Detective Inspector Marie Green commended both survivors for their courage throughout the criminal justice process, emphasizing that the substantial sentence ensures Moor remains behind bars for his predatory crimes, and encouraged other survivors to seek support regardless of when the offences took place.
On Friday, 4 September, the presiding judge deemed Moor a dangerous offender and imposed an extended determinate sentence comprising 14 years in prison (168 months) alongside an extended licence period of five years, totalling 19 years.
The court further issued a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) barring Moor from unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16, alongside restraining orders prohibiting contact with any of his victims for the next 20 years.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing extended determinate sentences for serious sexual offences, Moor is not eligible for automatic release at the halfway stage. He is required to serve at least two-thirds (112 months / nine years and four months) of his 14-year prison term in custody before becoming eligible to apply to the Parole Board for release on licence. If granted early release, Moor will remain subject to strict probation supervision in the community until the full 19-year sentence term expires.
