Raymond Williams, aged 61, currently held at HMP Norwich, was unanimously convicted of murder at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday, 20 August 2026, following the death of his estranged wife, Tania Williams.
The court heard that the couple had been married for 26 years and had three children together, while Tania had a fourth adult child living in the United States. Following the breakdown of their relationship, they separated in September 2025.
On the night of Saturday, 17 January 2026, Williams went from venue to venue across Norwich city centre looking for Tania while she was out with friends. CCTV footage captured Williams locating her at Revolucion de Cuba before both exited the premises. Williams subsequently turned off his phone, jogged to his car, and drove to Yarmouth Road, parking close to Tania’s home address in Catherine Gardens.
Tania travelled home by bus, arriving at approximately 11.33 pm. Minutes later, residents heard screams and discovered Tania lying in the street with severe injuries. Emergency services attended at 11.41 pm, but Tania was pronounced dead at the scene at 11.53 pm. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as blood loss resulting from wounds to her neck caused by a craft blade.
Norfolk Police arrested Williams outside his property on Dereham Road at 2.43 am on 18 January. Forensic teams recovered blood matching Tania’s inside his white Vauxhall Corsa, while CCTV captured Williams discarding items and officers located knife packaging on a nearby roof.
Appearing before Norwich Crown Court, Williams was convicted of:

Following the 17-day trial, the presiding judge remanded Williams in custody to be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, 25 September 2026.
