In 2021, Trevor Lockwood, THEN a 77-year-old former Welwyn Garden City man, was jailed for 10 years after being convicted of historic child sexual abuse against two young girls.
Trevor Lockwood, of Ryton, Tamworth, Staffordshire, was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court after being found guilty at trial of five counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency. The court heard that during the 1970s and 1980s, while living as a Jehovah’s Witness in Welwyn Garden City, Lockwood targeted two girls under the age of 10, subjecting them to abuse over several years. Lockwood threatened one victim that she or her family would die if she reported him. Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Historic Child Abuse Investigation Unit launched an investigation in 2018 after both victims disclosed the abuse, leading to Lockwood’s arrest, charge, and ultimate conviction.
The judge sentenced Lockwood to 10 years’ imprisonment.
Following his convictions for child sexual offences, Lockwood was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and made subject to public protection notification requirements.
He also remains subject to statutory licence conditions, risk management protocols, and monitoring by law enforcement in the event of any potential release.
