In 2021, William Binsley, THEN a 44-year-old registered sex offender from Willenhall, was jailed for over 11 years after sexually assaulting and robbing a 14-year-old girl on a canal towpath.
William Binsley, of Bloxwich Road South, Willenhall, pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court to sexual assault and robbery. The court heard that on 24 July 2020, Binsley targeted a 14-year-old girl along a pathway near Green Rock Lane, Bloxwich. Wearing a black face covering, Binsley grabbed the child by the neck from behind, forced her to the ground, covered her mouth, and stole her iPhone, AirPods, and bank card while sexually assaulting her. West Midlands Police traced Binsley through his vehicle parked near the scene, and the victim subsequently identified him in a police lineup. Binsley had previously been convicted of similar attacks on lone females in 2012 and 2013.
Judge Stephen Thomas sentenced Binsley to 11 years and four months in prison for sexual assault, with an extended licence period of three years, alongside a concurrent 57-month sentence for robbery.
Following his convictions, Binsley was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, extended licence conditions, and monitoring by law enforcement upon release.
