In 2021, Roy Watkinson, THEN a 47-year-old man from Runcorn, received a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to possessing extreme pornography and making indecent images of children.
Roy Watkinson, living on Rosemary Avenue in Runcorn, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornography. The court heard that Cheshire Police arrested Watkinson on 5 September 2018 and seized multiple digital devices, including a hard drive, a USB stick, and computers. Forensic examination uncovered Category A, B, and C indecent images depicting severe abuse against children as young as 18 months. During police interviews, Watkinson initially claimed he was searching for adult content before giving no comment responses when confronted with the evidence.
Judge Steven Everett sentenced Watkinson to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, alongside a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement and an order to pay £250 in prosecution costs.
Following his convictions, Watkinson was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements and monitoring by law enforcement.
