In July 2026, U.S. Representative Max Miller (R-Ohio) faced renewed public scrutiny following detailed allegations of domestic violence and child endangerment involving his former wife, Emily Moreno, and their two-year-old daughter.
According to court filings and police reports from the Bay Village Police Department, Emily Moreno has alleged a pattern of abusive behaviour by Miller, including:
Physical Assault: Allegations that Miller threw her against a wall on 1 February 2026, leaving visible bruising, and has previously thrown hot water at her.
Weapon Threat: Allegations that Miller pointed a handgun at her head during a dispute over household lighting in February 2026.
Child Welfare Concerns: Reports that their toddler suffered a broken collarbone under unclear circumstances in early 2026, with medical specialists noting bruising resembling a “handprint.” The child reportedly told police, “Daddy kill you” and “Daddy’s house is scary.”
Miller, a former Trump White House aide endorsed by President Donald Trump for his 2026 re-election campaign, has categorically denied all allegations, labelling them “complete fabrications” stemming from a “nasty divorce.” While Miller previously sought a civil protection order against his ex-wife—claiming she was “not mentally well”—he dropped this request on 28 July 2026.
No criminal charges have been filed against Miller, and an investigation by child protective services was unable to link the toddler’s injury to abuse definitively. The court currently permits joint custody, though a civil trial to resolve the ongoing custody dispute is scheduled for 5 November 2026.
Miller is also currently involved in separate legal proceedings against his ex-girlfriend, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, involving defamation claims and allegations of violating a 2023 legal settlement.
Senator Bernie Moreno, the congressman’s former father-in-law, has declined to litigate these matters publicly, stating that his priority remains the safety of his daughter and granddaughter.
