PETER BRYAN RUDD FROM SOUTHAMPTON SENTENCED AT SOUTHAMPTON CROWN COURTPETER BRYAN RUDD FROM SOUTHAMPTON SENTENCED AT SOUTHAMPTON CROWN COURT

In 2026, Peter Bryan Rudd, a 61-year-old man from Southampton, was jailed for over 16 years following his conviction for child rape and sexual abuse offences committed in Totton.

Peter Bryan Rudd, of Acacia Road, Southampton, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court to 16 years and nine months in prison after being found guilty by a jury of raping an 11-year-old child and two counts of sexual activity with a child. The court heard that Rudd’s offending spanned four years before being reported to Hampshire Police in May 2024. Following a five-day trial in April 2026, the jury returned guilty verdicts across all charges.

Upon sentencing, His Honour Judge Rowland commended the courage of the young victim and their family throughout the investigation and legal process. Investigators from the Child Abuse Investigation Team welcomed the significant custodial sentence, describing Rudd as a dangerous sexual predator. In addition to his prison term, the judge ordered that Rudd serve an extended one-year period of supervision upon his eventual release.

In addition to his 16-year and nine-month custodial sentence, Rudd was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

He was also made subject to a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a lifetime restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim to ensure long-term public protection and risk management.
