In 2021, Andrew Lomax, a then 45-year-old former care worker from Kensington, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court after police uncovered a massive archive of prohibited digital media.
Andrew Lomax, of Needham Road, Kensington, received a 16-month prison sentence suspended for two years after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of prohibited images of a child, possession of extreme pornographic images, and possession of indecent photographs. The court heard that law enforcement officers executed a warrant at his former address in Woodchurch in October 2020 following digital intelligence. Lomax admitted ownership of the material, which comprised over 11,000 illicit digital files stored across multiple laptops, hard drives, and computer towers spanning several years.
Forensic examination revealed thousands of category A, B, and C videos and photographs, with digital creation dates going back as far as 2013. Prosecutors detailed how Lomax acknowledged a sexual interest in children during police interviews. Defence counsel presented mitigating circumstances, after which Judge Brian Cummings QC handed down the suspended custodial sentence alongside 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirement, emphasising the severe harm inflicted on victims during the creation of such illicit media.
In addition to his suspended prison sentence, Lomax was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He was also made subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to ensure strict ongoing monitoring of his digital devices, internet access, and future activities.
