Bodycam footage shows the moment a Gwynant paedophile headteacher, Neil Foden, from North Wales, was apprehended by police. Neil Foden, 66, was the headteacher at Ysgol Friars in Bangor and the strategic head of Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle in Penygroes. He was later accused of child sex charges.
A police investigation and prosecution finished on Monday, July 1, with a judge at Mould Crown Court in Flintshire denouncing the headteacher’s actions and sentencing him to 17 years in jail. A video posted by North Wales Live shows a police officer chatting with Neil Foden in an office.
In the video, the police officer adds, “Mr Neil Foden, unfortunately, I need to arrest you on suspicion of sexual touching a child and sexual communications with a child.” Foden responds with a “Right”.
The police officer then gives him his rights and explains, “You are not required to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not say something when questioned that you later rely on in court.” He replies, “OK.”
The officer then states, “Anything you say may be used in evidence.” The judge, His Honour Rhys Rowlands, described the defendant as an “arrogant” and “bombastic” character who showed no remorse for his four victims, whom he targeted over a five-year period. In May, a jury found Neil Foden, of Gwynant in Old Colwyn, guilty of 19 offences. Neil Foden was found guilty of 12 counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual activity with a child in a position of trust, causing or inciting child sexual activity, attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence, sexual communication with a child, possessing indecent photographs of a child, and sexual assault of a child. Following a three-week trial, a jury of seven women and five men returned verdicts of conviction against the defendant. On Monday, July 1, he received a 17-year sentence. The judge informed Neil Foden, who will turn 67 next month, that he would serve two-thirds of his sentence in detention.
