A pervert from Blackburn, Suhail Mogra, has been incarcerated for engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with an individual whom he believed to be a 13-year-old minor.

Suhail Mogra, 25, of Whitewell Place, was sentenced to a total of 34 months in prison at Preston Crown Court on July 1st. He was apprehended by police who were masquerading as the girl online.

Mogra initiated a conversation with the “girl” on the Kik messenger app in March 2020, and subsequently enquired whether she would be interested in meeting him in a hotel room to perform sex acts on him. The conversation then transitioned to WhatsApp.

In April 2020, the police executed a warrant at his residence, confiscating his mobile phone and other devices.

He entered a plea of guilty to the charge of arranging or facilitating the commission of a juvenile sex offence in court.

He has been entered onto the Sex Offenders’ Register and has been issued a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order in addition to the prison term.

The conversation was conducted as part of a police operation to identify paedophiles who exploit minors through internet chat rooms and messenger applications.
