A 20-year-old man was seriously sexually assaulted at a local park in October 2023. The offender was found guilty of one count of rape today, Wednesday, June 24.

The victim was seated on a bench in Abbey Park, Leicester, on October 9 in the afternoon when Islamuddin Talash, 43, approached him.

During their brief conversation about bicycles, Talash told the victim he had a bicycle he was willing to give him.

Talash then proposed that they go to his flat so the victim could view it. But Talash dragged the victim into a bush and sexually assaulted him while they were strolling through the park.

Two teenage males began to question Talash’s attitude shortly before the incident. They managed to get a picture and video of him on their phones.

The witnesses went over to the bushes and started to watch them. They were able to protect the victim while Talash fled.

While strolling through the park, an investigating team officer noticed a man who fit the suspect’s description and image seated on a bench.

After being detained in the park, he was charged with rape after additional investigations and medical proof.

Talash of Smethwick’s Westfield Road was found guilty today after a trial.
