Dominik Szymanski was sentenced to prison for raping, assaulting, and stealing a woman’s dog.

On September 2, 2025, Dominik Szymanski, 47, of Waun Wen, punched, kicked and dragged the victim when she refused to have sex with him at his Matthew Street flat.

Earlier in the day, he had first encountered the victim.

In May, Szymanski was convicted of stealing, assault resulting in actual bodily harm, and rape.

He was given a 16-year prison sentence today. He will be permanently included on the sex offenders registry.

Claire Davies, a detective constable, stated:

“This was a long-lasting and serious assault carried out by a genuinely heinous perpetrator on a defenceless woman with few resources for self-defence.

This sentence gives victims of sexual abuse a very encouraging message: they will be taken seriously, their perpetrators will be found, and they will face justice.

“This outcome is of great relief to her family and friends; they have witnessed Dominik Szymanski being held accountable for his actions and duly punished, even though the victim is no longer able to see that justice has been done for her in court.”
