In 2026, a Kirklees child sex offender, Duncan Macintosh, was imprisoned after being detained and charged within 48 hours of his crimes being disclosed.

Kirklees child safeguarding detectives have applauded the fortitude of the young victim and her family following the sentencing of Duncan Macintosh at Leeds Crown Court today (26 June) for several child sex offences.

The 64-year-old, from the Brackenhall area of Huddersfield, was imprisoned for 11 years for eight sexual touching offences involving a girl aged under 13, and four sexual assault by penetration charges involving a girl under 13.

In addition, he received a 15-year sexual harm prevention order and an indefinite restraining order.

Macintosh had been found guilty of the wrongdoing, which took place between July and August 2025, at a trial at Leeds Crown Court in March.

His conduct was first reported to police during the evening of 31 August by the victim’s family, after the young girl divulged to them what had taken place.

An inquiry was promptly begun by expert officers, resulting in Macintosh being detained the very next day, then charged and brought to court on September 2.
