A teenager accused of raping a woman in a beachside toilet has told police the encounter was consensual. A jury at Bournemouth Crown Court heard that the defendant, Mohammed Abdullah, claimed the woman initiated contact by wanting a hug, which then led to sexual activity. The prosecution reported that the woman had been walking home alone along the seafront after a night out when she encountered Abdullah, who offered her a lift on his e-bike.
SENTENCING – The trial is currently ongoing at Bournemouth Crown Court. Mark Eldridge, prosecuting, reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of 6 July 2025. If convicted of the serious sexual offences currently before the court, the 19-year-old faces a significant custodial sentence.
OFFENCES – Abdullah denies one count of rape and one count of assault by penetration.
OUTCOME – Trial ongoing as of May 2026.
NATURE OF OFFENCE – The alleged offences took place inside a portable toilet cubicle on the Bournemouth seafront. The prosecution states the victim was targeted while walking home alone; however, the defendant maintains that the woman initiated the interaction by shouting “come” to him, hugging him, and consenting to sex after he offered her a lift on his e-bike.

QUESTION – Given that “a teenager is accused of raping a woman in a public seafront toilet after offering her a lift home,” do you believe the law should legally mandate that “All Professional and Private E-Bike or Transport Providers” must be “Subject to Mandatory GPS Tracking and Vetting” to prevent a series of assaults?
