In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Stuart MacDonald, then 36, of Leddach Road, Westhill, Aberdeenshire, was sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. MacDonald pleaded guilty to two charges of historical sexual abuse against two young girls committed around 20 years prior.

The investigation established that MacDonald committed lewd, indecent, and libidinous practices towards one girl on various occasions in the late 1990s, when he was between 14 and 17 years old. The court heard that he had lured the victim by pretending he wanted to show her toys before performing a sex act on her. He also admitted to a similar charge involving a second primary school-age girl, whom he followed into a toilet and ordered to remove her underwear.

Detection and Judicial Findings

The offences, which occurred at addresses in the city of Aberdeen, came to light after one of the females informed her doctor of the abuse, leading to a police investigation. Defence agent Mike Monro noted that MacDonald required assistance following the findings of his social work reports. The court reported that the crimes occurred between 1997 and 1999.

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin emphasised that while the offences were historical, they necessitated formal supervision and notification requirements. The court acknowledged the victim’s disclosure as the essential catalyst in bringing the case to justice, more than two decades after the initial incidents.

Sentence and Statutory Requirements

For his crimes in Aberdeen and Westhill, Stuart MacDonald was handed:

  • Probation Order: A three-year probation order with mandatory supervision.
  • Unpaid Work: 150 hours of unpaid work to be completed in the community.
  • Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements for 3 years.

Monitoring and Public Protection

MacDonald is managed under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Police Scotland. His history of targeting primary school-age children through deceptive tactics means his status remains under critical scrutiny during his three-year supervision period.

As a member of the Sex Offenders Register, MacDonald must comply with strict notification requirements regarding his address on Leddach Road, Westhill. Police Scotland states that the probation order is designed to facilitate his rehabilitation while ensuring public safety. Any breach of his unpaid work requirement or notification conditions will result in his immediate return to Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
