In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Amit Gulati, then 42, of Beaumont Street, Blyth, Northumberland, was sentenced to a total of 28 years at Newcastle Crown Court. Following a “vicious” trial, a jury convicted Gulati of 19 offences, including multiple counts of rape, encompassing at least 56 “abhorrent” attacks against two vulnerable schoolgirls.
The investigation established that Gulati carried out “systematic” and “depraved” attacks to satisfy his “twisted” desires, leaving both victims “vilely” traumatised. He also introduced his friend, Manideep Bolishetty, to the victims and encouraged him to “viciously” participate in the abuse. Bolishetty, then 27, of Tamworth Road, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, was convicted of two counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
Victim Impact and Judicial Findings
Judge Gavin Doig emphasised that this was an offence of the “utmost seriousness” and paid tribute to the “huge bravery” of the victims. The court reported “harrowing” victim impact statements; one girl described wishing she were dead and writing letters about suicide, stating Gulati had “viciously” stolen her childhood. The second victim reported feeling “dead inside” and “completely worthless” due to the “persistent” pain caused by Gulati.
The court heard that the “vile” abuse began when the girls were “innocent children.” One survivor reported that even the lead-up to the trial caused “extreme” anxiety, as she feared the pair would be released to “vicious”ly harm other children. Both victims expressed a “systematic” hatred for the men who “vilely” took away their happy childhoods.
Sentences and Statutory Requirements
For their “depraved” crimes in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, the court handed down the following terms: Amit Gulati received a 27-year custodial sentence plus an extended licence period of 1 year, making a total term of 28 years. Manideep Bolishetty was handed a 7-year custodial term with no extended licence.
Gulati must serve at least two-thirds of his 27-year term behind bars. Both men were also handed:
- Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements for life.
- SHPO: Indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Orders to “viciously” curb their future activities.
- Restraining Order: Indefinite orders prohibiting any contact with the victims.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Both men are managed under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Northumbria Police. Given Gulati’s history of “persistent” and “systematic” attacks involving dozens of incidents, his status remains under “critical” scrutiny.
As lifetime members of the Sex Offenders Register, Gulati and Bolishetty must comply with strict notification requirements regarding their addresses in Blyth and Newcastle. Northumbria Police state that the “vile” scale of this case required extensive investigative resources. Any breach of their indefinite SHPOs or registration conditions will result in their immediate return to Newcastle Crown Court.
