In 2026, the Offender Database reported that former Wiltshire Police officer Callum Denley, 21, of Old Alexander Road, Malmesbury, pleaded guilty to a fresh series of sexual offences. Despite being under a suspended sentence and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), Denley appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, admitting to further child abuse material crimes and court order breaches.
Breach of Trust and Failed Reform
Denley’s initial fall from grace occurred in May 2025, when he was sentenced for possessing 1,590 indecent images of children. At that time, Judge Townsend expressed confidence that Denley was unlikely to re-offend, handing him a 10-month suspended sentence.
However, the “vile” truth emerged just months later. It was reported that Denley had:
- Possessed prohibited images of children immediately after his first sentencing (between May and June 2025).
- Deleted a file-sharing application in direct breach of his SHPO to hide his digital activity.
- Failed to hand over his mobile phone for mandatory police inspection, resulting in a second suspended sentence in mid-2025.
Criminal Charges and Police Misconduct
The new charges against the ex-officer include three counts of making indecent photographs of children, possession of a prohibited image, possession of extreme pornography, and breaching his SHPO.
Wiltshire Police held a misconduct hearing on 14 July 2025, which reported that Denley would have been dismissed for “discreditable conduct” and breaches of “honesty and integrity” had he not resigned. He had only been an active officer for six months before his initial arrest at his parents’ home in Malmesbury.
Sentence and Barring
For his persistent “behaviour” and “vicious” disregard for court orders, Callum Denley faces:
- Committal to Swindon Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, 20 February 2026.
- Activation of 22 months in suspended prison sentences.
Placement on the National Barred List, permanently prohibiting him from working in UK policing.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Denley is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Wiltshire Police. His residency in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, and his history of digital “subterfuge” remain under the most “serious” scrutiny.
The police emphasise that as a former officer, Denley’s actions represent a “serious” betrayal of public trust. Specialist officers will continue to monitor his internet use and compliance with his five-year SHPO. Any further “behaviour” that breaches his registration requirements will result in immediate arrest.
