In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Alan Earwaker, then 35, of Haydock, St Helens, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court. Earwaker was convicted after subjecting his victim to years of vile sexual and physical abuse, as well as serious controlling and coercive behaviour. The investigation by Merseyside Police followed several reports from the victim, leading to Earwaker’s arrest in June 2025 on a litany of charges, including rape, intentional strangulation, and threats to kill.
The court heard horrendous details of how Alan Earwaker abused, threatened, and stalked the victim over a prolonged period. Detective Inspector Greame Kehoe reported that the survivor showed “courage and dignity” throughout the investigation, providing lengthy statements that were crucial in securing the nine-year custodial term. The prosecution emphasised that Earwaker’s vicious conduct in Haydock, Merseyside, represented a danger to the public and a complete disregard for the safety of his victim.
Alan Earwaker pleaded guilty to rape and controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as a range of other violent offences, including stalking and assault by beating. The judge emphasised that the sickening nature of the “horrific crimes” warranted a significant prison sentence to reassure the public that violence against women and girls is treated with the utmost severity. The court also acknowledged the vital role of support services such as RASASC and Safe Place in assisting survivors through the severe trauma of the criminal justice process in St Helens.
As a result of his convictions for these vile sexual and violent crimes, Alan Earwaker was jailed for nine years. He was made subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim and an indefinite notification requirement, meaning he must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Merseyside Police, remaining under intensive supervision for the duration of his life. Any further predatory behaviour or presence in Haydock, St Helens, or elsewhere in Merseyside will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
