In 2015, the Offender Database reported that Warren Bernard, then 25, of Shaw Street, Islington, Liverpool, was sentenced to eight years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court. Bernard, a “vile” and “predatory” individual, utilised social media platforms like Facebook and Snapchat to groom five schoolgirls aged between 13 and 16. The investigation by Merseyside Police revealed that he targeted children across Liverpool, Merseyside, exchanging explicit images and plying them with alcohol to facilitate his “vicious” and “depraved” sexual desires.

The court heard horrific details of how Bernard escalated his abuse by controlling a 15-year-old girl for the purposes of prostitution. During Christmas 2014, he “vilely” helped the teenager set up an online prostitution profile and arranged for her to meet customers at his flat in Islington. The prosecution reported that Bernard had taken his activity to “new levels of corruption and abuse,” which included the distribution of child abuse material and the possession of extreme pornography depicting sex with animals.

Warren Bernard pleaded guilty to a “serious” catalogue of 25 offences, including controlling a child prostitute, inciting sexual activity with a child, and 15 counts of taking indecent photographs. While in custody, he was reported to be a “dangerous” individual who showed a “vicious” disregard for the safety of children. Having served his custodial term, Bernard was released in 2019 and is now residing back in the community under strict monitoring by the authorities in Liverpool, Merseyside.

As a result of his convictions for sexual activity with a child and child exploitation, Warren Bernard is ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Merseyside Police, ensuring he remains under intensive supervision. Any further predatory behaviour or attempts to contact minors in Islington, Liverpool, or elsewhere will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
